One of the pioneering DJ's of Dubstep, 23 years young Chefal aka Chef, hailing from the home of Dubstep, Croydon, South London has been mixing for 13 years.
Chefal's upfront selection and skills on the decks have led to him djing around the World. Over the last year Chef has been spreading the Dubstep virus in UK towns and cities such as Croydon, Brixton, Nottingham, Brighton, Exeter, Newport, Bristol, Leicester, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester etc etc to places around the world such as Amsterdam and Uterecht, Holland --- Ghent, Belgium --- Copenhagen, Denmark --- Helsiniki, Finland --- Vienna, Austria --- Tel Aviv, Israel, --- Prague, Czech Republic --- Munich, Germany, France... plus more.
Chefal is a resident at the two pioneering Dubstep nights in London DMZ and FWD. Chefal is also a resident at club nights outside of the UK including Slam It! which is a bi-monthly event in Helsinki, Finland and also Voodoo People in Amsterdam, Holland.
Chefal has been hosting a weekly Radio Show on London's leading Rinse Fm (12 years on air) for the last 4 years and when Chefal isn't playing records raves, he's busy making them @ Transition Studios, while training to become a Mastering Engineer and managing the mighty Ringo Records!!
From the early secondary school days, Chefal was spending all his pocket and dinner money on the latest Jungle down at Big Apple on a Friday. He grew up listening to stations like Kool Fm, Weekend Rush, Rinse, Upfront, London Underground etc while playing Mario and Streetfighter in his bedroom.
Chefal Started listening to and buying House n Garage around 1997, when it got darker and more bassline influenced but still kept up to date with the Jungle and D'n'B until bout 2002. Chefal's sound that he's pushing FWD>> foremost is Dubstep and the best bassed out Grimey beats. ''For me it’s the bassline that makes me feel a tune''.
Chefal hooked up with Benga and Skream many years back through Big Apple Records (Croydon) and has been the main DJ in the crew, Smooth Kriminals since so Benga and Skream could concentrate on the production side of things but watch out for some beats from Chefal soon. Chefal rinses out the freshest dubz first from everybody who’s sound he's feeling including... Benga and Skream, Digital Mystikz, Loefah, L.D, Plastician, Cyrus, Tubby, N-Type, Quest, Clue Kid n Cotti, Pinch, Hench Crew, Distance, Hijak, D'coy, Kromestar n Cessman etc to name a few.
The main ingredients of Chef's sets are energy and deep sub basslines whether it’s a half step roller or a 4x4 jah shaka style banger, anything goes if Chefal likes it he’ll play it simple. ''I play for the crowd and myself, if I’m not having a good time how can I expect the listeners and ravers to''? This year watch out for Chefal pushing some fresh talented producers including L.D, Mr P, Clue Kid n Cotti(4n4mat), Dcoy, Reptile, Point, 15's, Aggro, Pinch, Conquest and Zomby. Catch Chef djing @ DMZ and FWD on a regular (It's what Dubstep's about) and other events such as Dubloaded, Skull Disco, SubDub, Dubpressure and Transmission pushing the Dubstep sound. Been on a lot of the best and worst pirates, south of the river over the last 7 years, until he found his home @ Rinse Fm early 2004.

Basically music has been part of Quest's life from young, he has always been encouraged to do music by his parents, especially his dad who is a major influence on the way he makes music today. Quest started playin music in church where he learnt to play the bass guitar, he'd always had a nack for melodies and discovered he could replicate most melodies on the piano but guitar really gave him a good insite and hunger for music! Then when Quest was a little older he got into uk garage and really wanted to be a dj, in 2000 he got his first pair of turntables technics 1210's! Quest became really good at mixing quickly and started a crew with his cousin Smooth called Imperial Click which didn't last long. He was dj'ing freelance until his good friend Venom who was in a crew called NW Untouchables asked him to join. Quest was happy to join coz they was the biggest in the ends. So he was with them for a while but meanwhile at this time his cousin Smooth showed him how to use a program called FruityLoops and Quest was really getting into producing and found it more stimulating than dj'ing. Soon enough things in Untouchables started to go wrong with various incidents and eventually the death of one of the members and friend called Stuntman who was murdered R.I.P STUNTS! This signified the end of the crew so Quest stuck at the producing and came into contact with his good friend Heny G through dj'ing on a station called Lush. Heny was good friends with Silkie. Quest was playing his productions on radio and Silkie and Heny were feeling them and Silkie informed him of a camp he was starting called Antisocial and asked Quest if he wanted to join, Quest agreed and ever since that day they have gone from strengh to strengh musically and in numbers. Now they are creating a storm in the underground surface. This year Quest's tracks 'The Seafront' and 'Deep Inside' were released on the notorious Deep Medi label run by Mala and more releases forthcoming. For Quest now its about walking the path thats laid out for him and contributing his music to the world!


THE LEXXUS [USA] - BASSISM, TURNTABLAZE

Drawing from an era of under-stimulated growth and overpopulation of north coastal san diego county, Tommy spent most of his teen years as a black sheep... metalhead, skate punk, all around rudebwoy... building ramps, soul surfing, and slam dancing weren't enough to combat the everyday threats of neighborhood gang violence... Playing in bands became his only outlet for true expression... but after unwillingly checking into juvenile hall and rehab for the advocation of herb and organic hallucinogens, he was betrayed by the majority of his friends, said goodbye the very few true ones, and left for the bay area...
Purging the demons of past is not his only challenge... his plethora of talents is both his financial safe zone and at times a cacophony of chaos and disorganization. But that's just his day job. Still to this day, he is a very misunderstood boy, but truly happy just the same. Through decades of drum-kit, improv training on bass, math rock bands, recording school and eventually turntables, Tommy has been a student and a teacher in many respects. With his beautiful girlfriend Emily on his side, their talents combined are an intense assemblage of sights and sounds.
And now after 2007's European tour rekindled his inspiration. His true passion for traveling has opened so many doors for his new label Bassism and the artists and friends involved. The pride of the label is showcasing international cutting edge dubstep, be it the hardest and heaviest bass drops and drum hits, to the deepest dream states and prog-ethnic polyrhythms. SF is such the hotbed for talent right now with many worldly cities following suit. Come September, vinyl should be hitting your local stores and Tommy is hitting the road to Europe.
So the credits... Tommy Lexxus been djing/producing for 12 years now. He helped establish the San Francisco Dubstep scene back in 2005, as well as sat on the float commission for the Bay Area Drum N Bass collective for Love Parade SF for the initial 2 years. Before SF, he cut his teeth in San Diego playing in bands on drums and bass guitar for over 20 years. He toured all over Europe last summer in 15 countries with 26 performances... that inspired him to turn Bassism, his promotion company, into a record label, with a monthly dubplate showcase @ Underground SF. With an international team onboard to help solidify the label's potential, Tommy is ready to shake the walls with an arsenal of heavy dub bass. His team members include 2krazy from Freak Camp Berlin, boc from Forecast Recordings Budapest, FSTZ from Kablammo in Kansas City, local SF heroes Dubsworth, Roommate, Antiserum, and his lovely girlfriend Emily from Ginny Knits who freehands all the labels illustrations and fashion merchandise. Other current signings include SPL and The Bassist from Portland, Phone Call, Gun Jack, and Runglin from Tallinn, and Thought from Sofia. Upcoming collaborations include SF's Djunya, Antiserum, and The Spit Brothers, and Russia's Barracuda. Tommy has happily and humbly shared the stage domestically and abroad with Scuba, Headhunter, Tes La Rok, Skream, and N-Type just to name a few. Come Selecta!!
He has an abundance of SF credentials including having the honor of being the 1st D+B deejay to ever perform on the main stage @ Haight Street Fair. Brocking the BADNB Float @ Love Parade SF in both 2004 + 2005. Other stellar SF events include Eklektic, Compression, Phuturo, Shelter, Grime City, Narco Hz, Asindee Jungle Battle, Superheroes/Supervillians and Full Melt, Elev8, Who The Cap Fit, Housepitality, fSound, Infiltrate, Anthem, Reflex, Still Doin It... (& list goes on & on).

He has co-produced over 50 successful events including Circuit Breaks, Medisin, Stereophonic, Vitamin Pink, Bottom Heavy, Ganymede, Broken, The Fool, Celeris, Bassism presents Cyantific + Mathematics, and much more to come from Bassism...stay chooned!
In the first decade of his career, The Lexxus was awarded Runner's Up in the 2000 Urb Magazine Mixtape Contest, 2nd place in the 2005 Urban Retreat DJ Competition, won the prelims at Guitar Center's DJ Spinoff that same year, and then tied for 2nd in the Groundscore Mixtape Contest in 2006. With over 20 mix CDs and tapes released under his name, The Lexxus takes pride in intertwining mixology & turntablism for the world to enjoy. He is the voice and brain behind Turntablaze Radio which had 26 successful shows with 80+ guests on pirated airwaves, and then went online @ http://cc-radiostation.net in Belgium for another 12 shows.
